Hi, I’m John-Paul, but most people just call me JP. I’m a NASM-certified personal trainer with a specialization in Adaptive Fitness. I believe fitness should be safe, accessible, and empowering for everybody - no matter where you’re starting from. My focus is to help you feel stronger, more confident, and more capable in your everyday life.
I started working in traditional gyms, but I always felt like something was missing, that deeper connection with the people I trained. That changed when I worked for four years as a Special Education Paraeducator at a middle school. It showed me how much joy and purpose I found in supporting people with unique needs, and it sparked the idea to combine my two passions: fitness and helping others. That’s when I pursued my Adaptive Fitness certification, and I haven’t looked back since.
My passion for inclusion also comes from personal experience. I lost my hearing at just 18 months old, and growing up in mainstream schools gave me a first hand understanding of what it’s like to face unique challenges. It taught me the importance of patience, empathy, and adaptability. Those lessons are at the heart of how I train today.
What excites me most is getting to know you…your story, your goals, your challenges, and your victories. Together, we’ll create a program that fits your life and helps you build strength, independence, and resilience. And we’ll have fun along the way, too.
Because at the end of the day, I believe fitness should meet you where you are and help you discover just how capable you already are.

The Meaning Behind JPD
At JPD Adaptive Fitness, the name is more than just initials. They are the initials of my name - John-Paul Damante - but over time, I realized they could stand for something much bigger. Each letter represents a core pillar that shapes every workout, every program, and every client journey.
J - Journey
Every fitness journey is different. There’s no single starting point and no one “right” path. Whether you’re brand new to exercise, adapting to a disability, or getting back into movement after an injury, I meet you where you are and help you move forward from there - at your pace.
P - Progress
Progress doesn’t look the same for everyone, and it shouldn’t. It’s not about comparing yourself to anyone else. It’s about meaningful improvements - moving better, feeling stronger, building confidence, and making steady progress in a way that works for you.
D- Dedication
Dedication isn’t about being perfect. It’s about showing up, even on the days when things feel hard or slow. Together, we stay consistent, flexible, and focused - because real, lasting change takes time.
These three pillars - Journey, Progress, and Dedication - are the foundation of everything we do. They’re a reminder that fitness is not about perfection. It’s about forward movement, inclusivity, and believing in what your body can do.
My Philosophy
I specialize in adaptive personal training - but my mission is to support ALL INDIVIDUALS on their fitness journey. Whether you have specific adaptive needs or general fitness goals, I’m here to help you build strength, confidence, and progress. Everyone deserves to feel strong in their own way.
